Mary Jane and Gerald, of Jasper, Georgia, purchased their first Summit condominium unit in 1986, and began their independent rental business in 1987. At that time, there were not as many owners doing that type of rental. It proved so successful that they purchased a second Summit unit, number 504, in 1994, and that is the one you see advertised on this web site. Today, the independent rental concept is more competitive. For one thing, there are more condo units on the beach, although none of the newer ones offer the large pool deck and beachfront space that you find at The Summit. The recession has touched most businesses and this resort rental business is no exception. The Reid’s rentals have survived thanks to a tremendous repeat and word-of-mouth business that now spans two generations of families. They have a reputation for maintaining a high quality unit at a competitive price. Mary Jane and Gerald welcome your phone calls and e-mails. The Spinnaker Beach Club on Thomas Drive looks lonely in this pre-1984 photo. The Summit Condominium was built in 1984 in the vacant area to the right of The Spinnaker (as you look from the beach). The Spinnaker is alive and well today.
